First Field Trip, Decimals, and Topic Sentences

Students and Parents,
I hope all of you are enjoying your Fall Break.  I've been spending some quality time with my in-laws down in Auburn, Alabama.  My wife and I had a great time, but it was a looooonnnnnng drive!  I can't wait to hear what each of you has been up to over the past nine days.
As far as school-related stuff is concerned, we'll be taking a look at a lot of different topics over the next week...
In math class, we'll be beginning our work on decimals, what they 'mean' and how to read them correctly.  The unit on decimals will allow us to move on to one of my favorite units of study, money.

In writing, we're going to be writing a well-written, complete paragraph with a good topic sentence and strong supporting details.  Students, a few weeks ago I had you describe what you think is the greatest food in the world.  On Monday, you'll be starting work on a paragraph describing the food you think is the most disgusting, so try to come with a few good ideas in mind!

   A few reminders:
  • October 14, After School Club, 3:00-5:00.  We're sending our first package to a classroom in England!
  • October 15, Wacky Sock Day
  • October 28, Field Trip to Ft. Harrod State Park.  Chaperones are needed! Forms/Permission Slips will be sent home soon!
Looking forward to seeing all of you back at school after the break.  I've rearranged the chairs in my classroom to mark the start of the next nine weeks, so be sure to quietly look for your new seat when you come in Monday morning.
   Mr. Piercey

PS - Going to the UK game this weekend?  I'll be there, too, just sitting on the visitors side.  Maybe I'll see you there!
