A Week of Nouns, Snapshots, and Decimals

Good Evening Everybody,

I can't believe we're halfway through the month of October already!  The year seems to be flying by!  With that being said, the first nine weeks ends this week, so any extra credit or missing work needs to be turned in ASAP.  Gotta keep those grades up!
Also, this weekend we sent out our first package to a classroom in the country of Wales.  We mailed them all sorts of goodies from Kentucky and a list of questions about their country for them to answer.  We are all very excited to see what kinds of answers we get back to our questions.  A big thanks to everyone who helped donate the different items.
In writing class this week, we'll be continuing work on our paragraphs, studying the difference between common and proper nouns, and working on a skill called a "snapshot".  Be sure to ask your child later this week about how they can use snapshots in their future writing pieces.
In mathematics, we'll be continuing our work on decimals for a few more days until we switch over to our unit on money.  Students, here's a little heads up: we're taking another 50-Facts Multiplication Test this Friday. Could this be your week to enter the "Multiplication Hall of Fame?"  I hope so!  Keep practicing those facts!

     A few reminders:
-Thursday, October 21, Afterschool Club, 3:00-5:00
-Thursday, October 22, Pink Out Day at Simmons
-Thursday, October 28, Field Trip to Ft. Harrod State Park.  Permission slips go home this week.  Chaperones are more than appreciated!

Thank you for all you do,
      Mr. Piercey

P.S. - We're out of snack/drinks for the after school club.  Any more donations would be much appreciated!
