Students and Parents,
First, a big thank you for all of those who donated items for our 4th Grade Auction on Friday.  It was quite the event.  Every student was able to take home at least one item with the money that they earned so far this year.  Students were able to "purchase" all sorts of items from some beautiful handmade jewelery to an iPod Nano!

If you are reading this in an email, please click HERE to go to my site.  I've added some more games underneath the mathreading, and writing tabs for my students to enjoy.  I think my personal favorite new game is Race to Ramses in the writing section.  It's great practice for forming words using prefixes and suffixes!
Website of the Week
This past week I introduced my students to a pretty cool online search engine, (think of it as Google for anything Math or Science related)  In the 'search' box, you can ask it anything you want.  For example, try typing in the exact day you were born, or ask "How long does it take to fly to Paris, France?"

There's a lot of other things you can ask it, too:
     - The answer to any math fact you want to know (just use / for "divided by")
     - Type the name of any famous person
     - Enter the name of an song, book, or movie you can think of
     - The location, population, and history of any city (search Versailles, KY for example)
     - Just about ANYTHING else

You can even ask it "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" if you're interested.  It knows a lot!  Students, play around with for a while, and you might be surprised with what you learn.

A few reminders for this upcoming week...
      - If you haven't paid the $3.00 yet for our field trip to Frankfort on January 28th, that money is due by January 21st.  Chaperones are still needed.
      - The first half of the payment for our May field trip to Mammoth Cave and Barren River State Park is due by February 3rd.  Don't forget!
      - The Snowflake Feast will be on January 20th.  Parent volunteers are still needed.
      - Check the Calendar for other important upcoming events

Thanks again for all you do,
Mr. Piercey

  1. Just had some fun on WolframAlpha. Try searching for some of the following things on the site...

    - Knock Knock
    - Are we there yet?
    - Why?
    - Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?
    - What came first, the chicken or the egg?

See what else you can find!
