What a Great First Week!

Students and Parents,

I hope you all had a great first week back of school here at Eminence.  I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who's been so welcoming during my first week here, too.   It's been a hectic (but great) week!

Parents, I wanted to make sure I passed along some important information regarding how you all can keep track of your child's progress and work in mathematics this year.  All of the 4th and 5th grade team will be sending home a paper copy of this information next week, but here are some different ways that you can stay up to speed of what's going on this year in class:

Your child has a private "Google Account" created for them that gives them free/secure access to any website that has a "Sign in with Google" option.  We've practice logging in a few times at school, but they can also login at home as well.

Your child's Google Account is their first initial, middle initial, last name @eminenceind.net.

Their password is "eis", followed by their lunch number, and then an exclamation point.

A made up example of a login/password would be:

login: rbsmith@eminenceind.net
password: eis4920!

Many of your child's teachers will be using Google Drive (drive.google.com) this year.  Feel free to check that website occasionally with your child's login to see what they've been creating. Please note: There's not much there right now because we're just getting started!  :-)

Your child also has a (pretend) bank account that we created for them.  They can use their "money" to purchase items/privileges in their classes this year, and each homeroom teacher has a different webpage for their students.  Also, they access their bank accounts just about every day at school, so they should know their logins and passwords.  Parents, please check these as often as you'd like!

We're also trying out a free teacher to student texting service called "Remind" as an additional way that we'll be communicating with you all this year.  To sign up for it, just do the following:

Fifth Graders
Text the message @eis5th to the phone number (502) 498-8737

If you haven't signed up yet, please do so ASAP as we'll be using it to "Remind" you all of important dates, field trips, and announcements. Students, if you have a cell phone, you can sign up as well! And no, it won't let you text your teachers back! :-)

Lastly, if you haven't done it yet, please sign up to receive these blog post updates in your email.  To do that, just CLICK HERE and type in your email address.  Also, if you are viewing this in your email and you can't see the images in this post, just click here to view it in your web browser.

Important: I have found that sometimes these will ocassionally get sent to your spam inbox.  Please check there the first couple of weeks and mark it "not as spam" just to be on the safe side!  :-)

Thanks, everyone!  Please don't hesitate to email me at donnie.piercey@eminence.kyschools.us if you have any questions.

Thanks,
